The final week of the Asheboro ZooKeepers Fall Baseball League will begin tonight (Monday, Oct. 17) with a pair of games at Kiwanis Park.

Each of the seven teams involved in this year’s league had the opportunity to play 12 games, two each against the six other competitors. Those who are participating this year include the Comets, Bears, Jets, Spinners, Eagles, Mustangs and Timberwolves.

Tonight, the Jets and Eagles meet at 5:30 p.m., with the Bears and Comets battling at approximately 7:30 p.m.

“The fall league allows our guys to grow as a team,” said Eagles representative Rob Shore, whose team is enjoying a very successful fall season. “It builds familiarity and bonds that make it easier to focus on TEAM once spring rolls around.”

Tuesday’s games feature the Spinners and Eagles (5:30 p.m.) with the Timberwolves and Mustangs following. Wednesday’s two games will match the Jets and Mustangs and Bears and Spinners.

“It’s really great to give our guys an opportunity, especially the new guys,” said Jets representative John Headen. “This allows them to get their feet wet before high school starts. A lot of our guys don’t play travel or showcase baseball and without this, they would be left out of extra baseball.”

The final game of the 2022 season will feature the Timberwolves and Comets Thursday at 6 p.m.

The ZooKeepers would like to thank the city of Asheboro for all its help in the season and for the fans who have supported the league.
