The Asheboro ZooKeepers faced off against the Boone Bigfoots in a seven inning exhibition match-up on Sunday, June 26th.

Asheboro came out hot with a Bryce Marsh homerun in the first.

The second inning brought two more runs for the ZooKeepers. Carson Ozmer started the inning off with a lead off double. That was followed by a Wade Cuda homerun to put the runs on the board.

The bats were hot in the fourth for the ZooKeepers.

A leadoff double from Drew Tyndall put one on for Wade Cuda to smash his second homerun of the night.

After Ethan McKay got on base on an error, Seth Werchan hopped on the homerun train, bringing the run total for the fourth to four.

Leading by seven, the ZooKeepers gave up their first runs of the night in the top of the fifth. A Boone homerun gave the Bigfoots two runs.

Gavin Marley started on the mound for the ZooKeepers, pitching five innings and only allowing two runs.

The seventh inning was disastrous for the ZooKeepers. Six hits brought six runs, giving the Bigfoots their first lead of the night.

The ZooKeepers were not able to come back in the bottom half of the inning, losing the game with a final score of eight to seven.

This game will not count towards the ZooKeepers overall record, as it was an exhibition game. The team will look to bounce back when they head to Martinsville tomorrow.
