ASHEBORO – Renovations to McCrary Park began Monday morning with city workers tearing down the dugouts and fencing area near thew visitors’ dugout.

Work began early Monday morning as Phase I of the four-year project began with the home dugout being demolished and with work being done near the visitors’ dugout.

Phase I will include leveling off the bank in right field, building a retaining wall, constructing new dugouts and resurfacing the playing field. Phase I is expected to be completed by February, in time for the 2022 high school baseball season.
