The Asheboro ZooKeepers hosted the Forest City Owls on Monday, July 18th.

The Owls got on the board first, plating three runs in the top of the second.

Asheboro was able to get on the board in the bottom of the second, scoring one run on a sac-fly  from Chase Waddell.

Forest City added one more run in the top of the third and fourth.

A Carson Ozmer single scored another run for the ZooKeepers in the bottom of the fourth.

The bottom of the fifth is what gave the ZooKeepers the final lead. Pitching struggles from Forest City loaded the bases and allowed for Justin Wilcoxen to smash a grand slam.

Danny Sullivan started the game for the ZooKeepers, going three innings and giving up all five of the Owl’s runs.

Danny Beal came in in relief, going six innings with no runs allowed, no walks, and seven strikeouts.

ECU boys Danny Beal and Justin Wilcoxen carried the ZooKeepers to a win, with a final score of 7-5. The ZooKeepers hope to maintain this momentum as they travel to Florence tomorrow, July 19th.
