The Asheboro ZooKeepers faced off against the Forest City Owls on Tuesday, June 28th. 

 

ZooKeepers started the game strong, putting up four runs in the first inning. This was carried by hits from Ryan Waldschmidt, Justin Wilcoxen, and Chase Waddell. 

 

Asheboro added a run in the second on a HBP, single, and a Forest City fielding error. 

 

Forest City scored one on two hits in the top of the third. 

 

After three scoreless innings, the ZooKeepers bounced back in the sixth. The team added two runs as a result of Forest City’s pitching struggles.

 

The bottom of the eighth sealed the deal for the ZooKeepers. Asheboro would add four runs on two hits, bringing their run total to eleven. 

 

The ZooKeepers had a strong night on the mound, with starting pitcher, Taylor Perrett, going five innings giving up one run and tallying seven strikeouts. Johnny Maynard and Carson Ozmer finished the night with a combined four scoreless innings with six strikeouts. 

 

Ending the night with a final score of eleven to one, the ZooKeepers stayed hot and look to defeat the Owls twice in a row when they head to Forest City for a noon game tomorrow.
