The Asheboro ZooKeepers traveled to Holly Springs on Saturday, June 11th.

The ZooKeepers started hot. Michael Zarrillo’s lead off single in the first set up Bryce Marsh for a two run homerun.

The bats cooled after that, with only one more hit on the night for the ZooKeepers, a bunt from Andrew Grande.

Asheboro left runners on base in five innings.

That ended up being a crucial number, as Holly Springs was able to come back in the bottom of the 8th inning.

ZooKeeper’s starting pitcher Michael Osmond kept the Salamanders scoreless through six. In those six innings, Osmond collected eight strikeouts with no runs and one hit allowed.

Holly Springs was able to find some holes in the defense in the eighth, putting up four runs on five hits.

The ZooKeepers will have one of their toughest games so far this season on Sunday, when the Bananas will travel to McCrary for their first meeting of the season.
