The Asheboro ZooKeepers got back to game action, hosting the Martinsville Mustangs on Tuesday, July 12th. 

 

Martinsville came out strong, plating four runs through the first four innings. 

 

Asheboro was able to get on the board in the bottom of the fourth when a Martinsville fielding error allowed Zarrillo to cross the plate. 

 

Martinsville added two more in the top of the sixth. 

 

The ZooKeepers scored four in the bottom of the sixth, bringing the game within one run. Those runs were scored on hits from Ronald Evans, Justin Wilcoxen, and Nate Polo. 

 

The Mustangs were able to plate four more through the seventh, eighth, and ninth. 

 

The bottom of the eighth scored three for the ZooKeepers. Doubles from Michael Zarrillo and Justin Wilcoxen allowed for the three runs to score. 

 

With no additional runs in the bottom of the ninth, the ZooKeepers fell short in their comeback efforts, losing with a score of 10-8. 

 

The ZooKeepers travel to Martinsville tomorrow in an attempt to even the score.
