The Asheboro ZooKeepers faced off against the Forest City Owls in a double header on Monday June 6th. 

 

The ZooKeepers came out hot, in game one, putting up 11 runs on 16 hits. 

 

Trent Youngblood led the team in hitting, going 3/4 on the game with a three run HR. 

 

Gavin Marley was the starting pitcher for game one, going for 3.1 innings and collecting five strikeouts.

 

The whole team came together and dominated in game one to collect the first win of the season. 

 

Game two of the double header started a bit slower, with both teams going scoreless until the fourth. 

 

Bryce Marsh started the fourth inning off with a bang, driving a solo HR over the left center wall. 

 

He was then followed up by Drew Tyndall and Trent Youngblood who both hit singles, with Tyndall scoring on a wild pitch. 

 

The game stayed 2-0 favoring the ZooKeepers until the bottom of the seventh, when Forest City plated two, tying it up. 

 

Asheboro was able to put up three runs in the eighth which sealed the deal.

 

When talking to Trent Youngblood after the game about the team’s first victories, he said “tonight we just had fun”.

 

The ZooKeepers will look to continue to have fun and win at home tomorrow, June 7th, when they face the Morehead City Marlins.
