The Asheboro ZooKeepers are one of three Coastal Plain League teams nominated for the Organization of the Year Award.

Asheboro, Lexington County and Florence were nominated for the award. Teams are nominated by their peers. This is the second straight year Asheboro has been nominated for the honor.

When nominating Asheboro, it was said: “They launched a new team branding – the ZooKeepers – which was well received and lots of fun. They saw increased merchandise sales across the board and did a great job of implementing the new theme at their games, including staff members wearing zookeeper uniforms. Their new team uniforms featured a new look and expanded on their new nickname that was really cool to see.

“The overall experience that Asheboro offers was fantastic. This includes the ownership group and GM. They were welcoming and went above and beyond to include offering assistance to any daily operation. They were sincere and that was well received by our organization.

The field improvements are next level and their level of investment shows their commitment to improving the overall fan and player experience in the future.”

General Manager Dennis Garcia said it was an honor to be nominated.

“We really work hard and for another team to recognize that and nominate us for this award is really humbling and exciting,” Garcia said. “I really want to thank our ownership, Co-General Manager Jeremy Knight, everyone in the front office, all our fans and sponsors and our summer interns for all the hard work over the past season.”

The winner of the award will be announced Tuesday evening.
