The Asheboro ZooKeepers traveled to Holly Springs on Sunday, July 3rd.

The ZooKeepers struggled early in the game, with the Salamanders putting up five runs on one hit in the bottom of the second.

The top of the fourth brought the ZooKeepers back into the game. A two run homerun from Ronald Evans started the comeback.

Asheboro loaded the bases on singles from Alex Pendergast and Michael Zarrillo and a Trent Youngblood walk. Kennedy Jones stepped up to the plate and crushed a grand slam to give the ZooKeepers the lead.

The lead was short lived, as four walks led to two runs for the Salamanders.

Chase Waddell took the lead back for the ZooKeepers with a three run homerun in the top of the fifth.

A solo shot to lead off the bottom of the ninth brought the Salamanders within one. However, Connor Smith was able to collect three strikeouts in the inning to close out the game.

With a final score of nine to eight, the ZooKeepers collected their fifth straight win. Holly Springs will travel to McCrary tomorrow where the ZooKeepers hope to collect a Fourth of July win.
