The Asheboro ZooKeepers lost 4-2 to the Forest City Owls on Tuesday night in their final home game of the season at McCrary Park.

The Zooks took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the third inning but did not score again. The Owls immediately retook the lead with a two-run home run in the top of the fourth and tacked on another in the top of the seventh for insurance.

Todd Hudson and Dallas Callahan drove in the runs for Asheboro. The Zooks finished the night with five hits but left 10 runners on base.

With the loss, the ZooKeepers have been eliminated from Coastal Plain League playoff contention, as the Lexington County Blowfish will face the Owls for the West Division crown and a spot in the Petit Cup championship series.

The ZooKeepers will play their final three games on the road, starting with a Thursday clash against the Martinsville Mustangs. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
