The Asheboro ZooKeepers debuted their new field on Saturday. The team faced off against the Martinsville Mustangs.

John Owen led the ZooKeepers in pitching for the night, going five innings and collecting five strikeouts.

The bats started off hot, with the team scoring two runs in the bottom of the first.

Martinsville tied it up in the fourth, allowing two to cross the plate off various fielding errors.

A two run single in the top of the sixth gave Martinsville their first lead of the night. That was quickly matched by Asheboro, when Quinten Collins hit a double knocking in 2 RBIs.

After some pitching struggles from Asheboro in the 8th and 9th, the Mustangs sealed the deal, tacking on 3 additional runs.

Although the ZooKeepers came up short in the end, the bats were moving throughout the game.

The team is hoping to collect their first win of the season when they travel to Forest City for a double header on June 6th.
