The Asheboro ZooKeepers lost their second straight game on Sunday night with a hard fought 9-5 result against the Holly Springs Salamanders at Ting Stadium.

After falling behind 8-0 through three innings, Todd Hudson hit a sacrifice grounder that allowed the Zooks to get on the board with their first run in the fourth. An inning later, Dallas Callahan sent a ball into orbit over the right field wall scoring not only himself but teammate Tanner Thomas from second making it an 8-3 game in the top half of the fifth inning.

The Zookeeper bats fell silent until the ninth inning as the Salamanders tacked on one more run. The ZooKeepers tried to rally and scored two runs in the top of the ninth but the Salamanders relief staff shut down the mini rally ending the game with a score of 9-5.

The ZooKeepers will look to get back into the win column with a game against the High Point-Thomasville HiToms on Monday night at UNCG. The game will start at 7 p.m.
