The Asheboro ZooKeepers hosted the Holly Springs Salamanders for a Fourth of July showdown.

Seth Werchan put the ZooKeepers on the board first, stealing second and third and crossing the plate on a Salamander throwing error after a walk put him on base.

Two homeruns in the top of the third scored three for the Salamanders.

The ZooKeepers tied it up in the bottom half of the inning on hits from Bryce Marsh and Drew Tyndall.

Holly Springs added three more runs on three hits in the fourth.

A homerun added a run for the Salamanders in the top of the fifth.

Bryce Marsh and Drew Tyndall layed down a pair of singles in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs in the inning.

Holly Springs would add two more with runs in the sixth and eighth.

The ZooKeepers fell short and were unable to comeback, dropping their first game since the start of the second half of the season.

Asheboro will travel to Morehead City and Wilmington this week in hopes of getting back in the win column.
