The Asheboro ZooKeepers’ winning ways were halted on Friday night as the Holly Springs Salamanders took game two in as many days between the teams with a 12-5 victory at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs.

The score remained quiet through two innings until the ZooKeepers put up a run of their own in the top of the third thanks to an RBI single from Jake Holland. The Salamanders answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half thanks to a solo home run and an RBI single. It would be a 2-1 Holly Springs lead headed into the fourth.

It continued to be back and forth offensive baseball as the ZooKeepers scored four more runs in the fifth and sixth innings but the Salamanders kept adding by slotting six runs of their own making it 8-5 headed into the back third of the game.

The offense remained quiet for Asheboro the remainder of the game as Holly Springs kept the gas pedal down.

The game ended with a final score of 12-5 in favor of Holly Springs and ending the two game win streak for Asheboro.

The ZooKeepers look to get back into the win column as they take a long trip to Luther Williams Field tomorrow to face the Macon Bacon for the final time in 2023. You can catch the first pitch on FloSports and Mixlr at 7 p.m.
