The Asheboro ZooKeepers faced off against the Martinsville Mustangs on Tuesday May 31st.

Martinsville came out swinging, putting up two runs in the first.

The ZooKeepers struggled out of the gates, but were able to put one on the board with a one run home run from Bryce Marsh.

The team struggled with errors, but had some strong defensive stops from Youngblood and Grande. Waddell also had a nice throw down to second to pick off a base runner.

After the ZooKeepers stranded bases loaded in the top of the sixth, Martinsville sealed the game up in the bottom of the seventh, plating two additional runs.

Asheboro experimented with different arms, throwing five different pitchers during the game.

The ZooKeepers have now started the season 0-2, and are looking to Friday June 6th’s game to collect a win against the Florence Flamingos.
