Asheboro Drops Final Game to Martinsville

By Lauren Bradford
The Asheboro ZooKeepers hosted the Martinsville Mustangs for their final game of the season
on Saturday, July 30.
The ZooKeepers were able to get on the board first, with three straight singles from Trent
Youngblood, Drew Tyndall, and Justin Wilcoxen scoring two runs.
Martinsville had a strong fourth inning, plating eight on three home runs.
Asheboro added a run in the bottom of the fourth, with Ronald Evans crossing the plate after
reaching base on a four-pitch walk.
The ZooKeepers would stay hot in the bottom of the fifth, adding three runs on a Bryce Marsh
homerun.
Martinsville added two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings, giving them the six run lead.
The ZooKeepers started what looked like a comeback in the bottom of the ninth. Unfortunately
their season ended in a defeat after only adding two runs, bringing the final score to 12-8.
The ZooKeepers ended their season with an overall record of 14-33 and a second half record of
11-13.

Asheboro thanks the players and coaches for their efforts this season, as well as the fans
for their support throughout the season. We can’t wait to welcome you back to McCrary next
May.
