ZooKeepers Crush Bigfoots with Pair of Six-Run Innings

McCrary Park – June 19, 2025

The Asheboro ZooKeepers exploded for two separate six-run innings and coasted to a dominant 13–3 win over the Boone Bigfoots on a humid Thursday night at McCrary Park. With the win, the ZooKeepers improved to 11–4 and extended their home winning streak to three games.

A Wild Second Inning

After falling behind 1–0 in the top of the first, Asheboro responded emphatically in the bottom of the second. The ZooKeepers sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring six runs on just two hits, taking advantage of five walks, a hit-by-pitch, and two wild pitches. Nathan Chrismon (Catawba College) came through with the biggest blow—a bases-clearing triple down the line, bringing in three runs.

Seojun Oh (High Point) added an RBI single, and Sal Laimo (Barton College) walked and scored during the rally to help blow the game open early.

Insurance and a Finishing Blow

Asheboro added another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Oh to make it 7–1. After Boone chipped away with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, the ZooKeepers put the game away for good in the seventh.

Chrismon walked and scored again, and Sam Hunter (Catawba) crushed a pinch-hit RBI triple in a six-run outburst that featured a two-run double from Yariel Diaz (Barton College) and RBI hits from Oh and Laimo.

Balanced Attack and Strong Pitching

Caden Barnett (Presbyterian College) earned the win out of the bullpen with two strong innings, allowing just one run on one hit. Garrett Smith (Eastern Florida State) and Caleb Cockerham (Lenoir-Rhyne) combined for five innings of four-hit ball to start the game.

Offensively, 11 different ZooKeepers reached base, with Oh going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Diaz driving in three. Chrismon finished with four RBIs despite recording just one hit, thanks to timely baserunning and disciplined at-bats.

Final: ZooKeepers 13, Bigfoots 3 (7 Innings)

The ZooKeepers capitalized on 11 walks, two hit batters, and several Bigfoots defensive miscues to score their highest run total of the season.
