ZooKeepers Split Double Header Against Forest City

The Asheboro ZooKeepers hosted Forest City for a double header on Wednesday, June 15th.

Forest City came out strong in game one, scoring two in the first. They continued to put up runs in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.

Forest City ended the night with seven runs on ten hits.

Kennedy Jones, a recent addition for the ZooKeepers, played a strong game in the loss. He went two for three at the plate with two singles. He also had some strong throws home from left field.

The ZooKeepers dropped the first game of the night with a final score of 7-0.

The team was able to bounce back and got their third win of the season in game two.

Two hits in the bottom of the first put the ZooKeepers on the board first.

The bats stayed hot in the bottom of the second, allowing the ZooKeepers to add two runs.

Drew Rogers added a run in the bottom of the third on a home run to left field.

Pitching struggles from the Owls loaded the bases for the ZooKeepers in the bottom of the fifth. Trent Youngblood took advantage of that, hitting a Grand Slam to double Asheboro’s score.

Asheboro tacked on five more in the bottom of the sixth to finish strong.

Hunter Shuey was on the mound for the ZooKeepers, pitching a great game. Shuey pitched 6 scoreless, only allowing two hits.

The ZooKeepers finished off the night with a 13-0 win, and are hoping to carry that momentum with them to Martinsville on Thursday.
