ZooKeepers Start the Second Half Hot

The Asheboro ZooKeepers started the second half of the CPL season in Martinsville on Monday, June 27th. 

 

Ronald Evans started the night off with a two run homerun in the first. 

 

Hits from Trent Youngblood and Kennedy Jones knocked in two in the second.

 

The fourth added two more for the ZooKeepers. Three straight singles to start the inning led to a walk-in run and a sac-fly RBI from Drew Tyndall. 

 

The ZooKeepers added one run in both the fifth and sixth innings. 

 

The bottom of the sixth allowed the Mustangs to put up two runs on three hits. 

 

John Owen was on the mound for the ZooKeepers. The starter pitched six innings with seven strikeouts and only two runs allowed. Danny Beal closed the game out with a scoreless seventh. 

 

The seventh inning was dominant for the ZooKeepers. Hits from Kennedy Jones, Bryce Marsh, Wade Cuda, Michael Zarrillo, Alex Pendergast, and Trent Youngblood led to seven runs crossing the plate. 

 

At the end of the seventh with a score of 15 to 2 the game ended in a run rule win for the ZooKeepers. Asheboro hopes to carry this momentum into their game against Forest City tomorrow.
