Hudson Blasts Two More Home Runs, ZooKeepers Win Season Series Against HiToms
Todd Hudson hit two home runs on Monday night at Finch FIeld to help the Asheboro ZooKeepers defeat the High Point-Thomasville HiToms 14-8.
Hudson hit his first home run of the night in the first inning on the first pitch after Jared Beebe went yard to put the ZooKeepers. He then hit another ball out in the top of the fifth for his fourth home run in the last two games at Finch Field. Beebe and Hudson combined for six home runs at Finch on Friday and Monday and are now tied for the most home runs on the team with six apiece.
As they did on Friday night, the ZooKeepers offense dominated. Seven of Asheboro’s nine starters had at least one RBI, with Beebe leading the way with five. He earned the Coastal Plain League’s Line of the Night for his effort. The Zooks finished the night with 17 hits, matching their total from Friday’s 20-10 victory over the HiToms. In the last two games at Finch, the ZooKeepers hit eight home runs and had a Little League home run.
Jacob Halford started on the mound for the Zooks and threw five innings with eight strikeouts. He gave up just a pair of runs. Jaden Stockton threw a scoreless sixth with two strikeouts and Mayson Dear, making his pitching debut with Asheboro, closed out the game with a clean ninth inning.
In their last three games against the HiToms, all of which were wins, the ZooKeepers scored 48 runs. With Monday’s victory, the Zooks narrowly clinched the season series against the HiToms, with a 6-5 advantage in their 11 meetings.
The ZooKeepers will play their final regular season home game at McCrary Park on Tuesday against the Forest City Owls as they continue their playoff push. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
