ZooKeepers Continue To Roll

The Asheboro ZooKeepers looked to continue their win streak against the Lexington County Blowfish.

Last night the ZooKeepers took down the Forest City Owls in impressive fashion to keep their playoff hopes alive.

This would be the second edition of the matchup with the ZooKeepers taking the only matchup thus far.

Owen Simmons got the ball to face off against Jack Whitlock

Ones A Crowd, Two’s A Party

In what seemed like a pitching duel coming into the game would not live up to expectations.

On a hot and humid night in Asheboro the ball was flying around the park at a torrid pace.

In most ZooKeepers games this season we have seen big innings, tonight we saw multiple smaller innings.

In five of the first six half innings combined one run was scored.

The only half inning that one run was not scored was the top of the first inning, that of which was a 1-2-3 inning for Simmons.

Throughout the first few innings both offenses seemed to find gaps where defenders were not stationed.

The only actual run that was scored via a base hit for either side in the first three innings was an RBI double from ZooKeepers outfielder RJ Jimerson.

Jimerson continued his hot hitting with yet another RBI.

After three innings the ZooKeepers led 3-2.

Big Time Players Make Big Time Plays

While the game was neck and neck through the first inning the ZooKeepers broke it open in the fifth inning.

Cal Riehl came into pitch for the Blowfish and struggled.

Hit after hit came for the ZooKeepers and followed by run after run.

Jimerson hit another RBI single as well as Nick Capozzi but it was not done there.

Sal Laimo came up clutch for the ZooKeepers once again with a two RBI single to really break the game open.

Close Out

From the moment the ZooKeepers broke the game open they were shut down.

From the sixth inning to the ninth inning the bullpen shut down the game as they usually do.

A combination of Ryan Neilson and Danny Thompson did not allow a run in three combined innings of work.

A final score of 8-3 saw the ZooKeepers keep the playoff hopes alive for yet another day.

With defeating the Blowfish they are now only 2.5 games back for the final playoff spot.

Tomorrow will be an off day for the ZooKeepers then they will travel to Forest City Thursday.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
