ZooKeepers Dominant On The Road
The ZooKeepers made the longest road trip of the season Tuesday night as they traveled to Macon.
This would be the second time the two teams would face off this season.
Earlier in the season Macon traveled to McCrary Park and won by a narrow margin.
Peter Mullen would get the ball for the ZooKeepers to face off against Payton Adkinsson.
Bats Hot Early
Despite the long road trip and showing up 90 minutes before first pitch the bats came out hot.
Just two batters into the game the ZooKeepers already were on the board thanks to an RBI knock from catcher Yari Diaz.
Single after single continued to bring in runs for the ZooKeepers.
Alex Lacoste brought in two runs to add onto the lead.
It had been a while since outfielder RJ Jimerson had a home run but tonight was his night.
Jimerson rocketed a baseball over the left field wall to continue the run barrage in the first inning.
Blink and you may have missed the ZooKeepers plate five runs in the first inning.
Five runs in the first inning seemed impressive only for it to be topped in the second inning.
Twelve ZooKeepers batted in the second inning alone to continue to stretch the lead out.
In addition to the twelve hitters that came up to the plate, five different ZooKeepers brought runs across the plate.
The inning was highlighted by multiple two RBI singles from both Lacoste and outfielder Evan Harding.
After it was all said and done the ZooKeepers took a commanding 12-0 lead after just two innings.
Mullen Dominates
For the second game in a row the starting pitching was fantastic.
Mullen has been one of the best pitchers on the staff all season long and tonight was no different.
Since the game was a run rule victory in seven innings Mullen was taken out early to save his arm for later.
Mullen went five innings giving up just one run on three hits.
After the stellar performance, Mullen now has a 3.19 ERA which is one of the lowest on the team.
Close Out
Ryan Neilson came in and closed the game down.
He pitched two innings and struck out five batters that he faced.
After recording multiple strikeouts, Neilson bashed his hand against his chest in excitement.
The ZooKeepers walked away with a 12-0 run rule victory.
The long road trip was no match for the ZooKeepers tonight.
Going to Macon means an off day for the ZooKeepers tomorrow resuming their season on Thursday night at home against Martinsville.
Ticket can be purchased online or at the box office.
