ZooKeepers Extend Win Streak

The Asheboro ZooKeepers hosted the defending division champion Forest City Owls at home for the second time this season.

The Owls got the better of the ZooKeepers the last time the two met at McCrary Park.

Noah Samol would get his first start of the season as he usually comes out of the bullpen.

For the Owls they sent out John Jones to start the game.

The Owls had two days of rest prior to this game so this would be their first game of the second half.

Hot Start

For the second game in a row the ZooKeepers got off to a very hot start.

After shutting down the Owls in the top of the first inning the they came out swinging in the bottom of the first.

Just like he did in Martinsville, catcher Yariel Diaz got the run party started.

Diaz walked with the bases loaded but that was not the only runs the ZooKeepers would plate.

Shortly there after, first baseman Nick Spaventa knocked in a run on a fielders choice.

Quickly the ZooKeepers took a 2-0 lead into the second inning.

After giving up a run in the top of the second the ZooKeepers responded to show their strength.

Devon Parks got it going in the second inning when he launched a three run home run over the right field fence.

Not only did Parks provide some runs but so did Sal Laimo.

Jones on the mound struggled to keep the ball in front of him resulting in multiple wild pitches.

Laimo stole all three bases on numerous wild pitches plating yet another run.

Through two innings the ZooKeepers led 6-1.

In the next inning Jones continues to struggle with more wild pitches giving the ZooKeepers yet another run to extend their lead to six.

Owls Storm Back

In the fifth inning the Owls began to storm back.

By this point the ZooKeepers had taken out Samol and the bullpen would take over for the rest of the game.

Newcomer Zach Taylor came into the game and struggled.

Taylor gave up three quick runs and did not record an out.

The Owls would eventually tack on two more additional runs to create a five run fifth inning, but they were not done yet.

The ZooKeepers were put down quickly in the bottom half of the inning giving all of the momentum to the Owls.

In the sixth inning the Owls kept the runs coming.

Jaden James hit his SECOND GRAND SLAM of the game, one in the fifth and one in the sixth.

That emphatically gave the Owls the lead once and for all, but the ZooKeepers still had a little left in them.

Comeback Kids

As they have done so many times just this week the ZooKeepers stormed from behind.

In the final four innings the ZooKeepers outscored the Owls 6-1 to take a 13-10 advantage.

The comeback was started by Davis Germann who had a leadoff triple to begin a five run eighth inning.

Seemingly any deficit is not a worry for the ZooKeepers at this point in time.

Wrap Up

The ZooKeepers stormed back to win 13-10 and move to 2-1 in the second half of the season.

An off day on Wednesday for the ZooKeepers then they are back at home Thursday to face the Hi-Toms.
