ZooKeepers Relinquish Lead Late

For the fourth game in a row the Asheboro ZooKeepers play the High Point Thomasville Hi Toms.
This edition would be at McCrary Park after last nights game was held in Thomasville.
The ZooKeepers took care of the Hi Toms last night by a whopping score of 18-5.
In tonight’s edition Mason Manriquez would get the ball to face off against Max Miller
Different Place, Same Result
For the second night in a row the ZooKeepers bats got off to a blistering start.
In the first inning alone they batted around scoring six runs.
The runs started quickly as it only took two batters before Dylan Driver was driven in by Evan Harding.
Harding himself did not have to wait long on the base paths as Hunter Atkins immediately drove him in.
The biggest part of the inning came from newcomer Alex Lacoste.
Lactose just graduated high school and will be playing at the College of Chareleston.
In his VERY FIRST AT BAT Lacoste hit a GRAND SLAM to give the ZooKeepers a 6-0 lead.
Miller was taken off the mound after just 2/3 of an inning of work.
Hi Toms Claw Back
Despite giving up six runs in the first inning the Hi Toms knew they had plenty of game left.
It did not take them long to respond in a big way of their own.
After being shut down the first two innings the bats woke up in the third.
In the third inning alone the Hi Toms put up four runs of their own.
The four run inning was highlighted by a two run home run from designated hitter Brantley Willis.
Blink and you may have missed a major comeback from the Hi Toms, but they weren’t done there.
After giving up a run in the fifth to the ZooKeepers they answered again.
Lead Change
In innings 6-8 the Hi Toms tacked on four additional runs to take a 8-7 lead.
All the way down from 6-0 in the first inning all the way back up to 8-7.
The kill shot for the Hi Toms was in the eighth inning when catcher Jackson Owen hit a two RBI double to take the lead.
After leading for most of the game the ZooKeepers found themselves behind late in the game.
Wrap Up
The bats would not recover for the ZooKeepers and they would fall to the Hi Toms 8-7.
Tomorrow, the ZooKeepers will travel to Boone to play the BigFoots.
