ZooKeepers Show Off in Exhibition Game

The ZooKeepers played yet another exhibition game at home, this against the UW-Harrie Wampus Cats.

The Wampus Cats continued their tour of the CPL playing most of the teams around the league.

As for the ZooKeepers, they were coming off a six run loss in Boone the night before.

This season the Zookeepers are 3-0 in exhibition games and have won all by wide margins.

Zach Taylor got the ball for the ZooKeepers to face off against Charles Shadowens.

Run Fest

The game started off hot for both offenses.

In the top of the first inning Taylor struggled to find the strike zone and eventually allowed the Wampus Cats to have the bases loaded.

Quickly Jake Whitley of the Wampus Cats sent one over the wall for a grand slam.

Barely being able to blink the Wampus Cats were up 4-0.

Only being a seven inning game the ZooKeepers had to take action quickly.

In the bottom of the first inning the bats roared and got back into the game.

Four different ZooKeepers had RBI base hits in the bottom of the first inning.

Most notably, ZooKeepers shortstop Zach Evans continued his hot streak of batting in runners.

After the first inning the score was all knotted up at four a piece.

Taking Control

Tyler Behm came in the game for the ZooKeepers and began to settle the game down.

Over the course of the five innings that Behm pitched he gave up two runs on just three hits.

After the uproar in the first inning the ZooKeepers took all of the momentum and ran away with the game.

Despite being down in the middle innings they had two additional innings scoring four runs.

In the fourth and seventh innings they score four runs to put the game away.

The four run fourth inning was highlighted by a three run home run from ZooKeepers left fielder Davis Germann.

Germann has not only showed off his speed as of late but his power as well.

In the sixth inning the Zookeepers continued to get single after single scoring run after run.

Closing It Out

After the run fest from the ZooKeepers across three innings they ran away with the game.

Despite a first inning scare from the Wampus Cats the Zookeepers won 12-7.

Overall, the exhibition game came at a great time for the ZooKeepers to rekindle the magic in the bats.

The next game for the ZooKeepers will be July 15th @ High Point Thomasville.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30PM and can be heard on the ZK Baseball Radio Network.
