ZooKeepers Can’t Catch Up to HiToms
The Asheboro ZooKeepers faced off against the High Point-Thomasville HiToms on Sunday, June 19th.
The HiToms started off hot, scoring one run on three hits in the first. The HiToms were then able to take advantage of ZooKeeper pitching struggles in the second, scoring four runs on just two hits.
In the second inning, Johnny Maynard entered the game in relief for the ZooKeepers. He was able to tally five innings of work allowing only three hits and no runs.
Patrick Libby, Maddux Smith, and Connor Smith all pitched an inning, each giving up no hits and no runs.
The ZooKeepers were able to get on the board in the sixth. Ethan McKay singled, scoring Cole Stanford who reached base on a walk.
Asheboro left runners on in the eighth and ninth innings, never quite able to catch up to the HiToms.
The ZooKeepers will head to Forest City tomorrow, looking to defeat the Owls for the fourth time this season.
