ZooKeepers Drop One to Martinsville

The Asheboro ZooKeepers faced off against the Martinsville Mustangs on Thursday, June 16th.

Martinsville got on the board first, plating two on three singles in the bottom of the first.

Trent Youngblood stayed hot last night, hitting a 2 RBI triple in the top of the third. That shot tied the game, and it would remain that way until the eighth.

The ZooKeepers left men on base in multiple innings, not capitalizing on various opportunities.

The bottom of the eighth sealed the deal for the Mustangs. Four walks and a double allowed for two runs to score, giving Martinsville the two run lead.

Coming down to the top of the ninth for the ZooKeepers, the team did not stop fighting. Carson Ozmer got on base on a fielding error from Martinsville. Cole Stanford then stepped up to the plate crushing a ball that had the distance but fell just short on height.

Two consecutive line outs ended the game, with the ZooKeepers dropping another game to Martinsville. Asheboro looks to add some wins in their three game home stretch.
